Coccidia

Coccidiosis is the infection of the intestinal tract and affects pets that are young, debilitated, and have a poor immune system. Coccidia are protozoal organisms that are responsible for causing the disease which is characterized by severe diarrhea. Pets infected with coccidia may not show any symptoms even if they are positive for coccidia. Treatment for intestinal inflammation caused by coccidia/coccidiosis includes antibiotics therapy. Dietary supplements with added probiotics help in healing quickly. It is important to keep your pet hydrated during treatment. Water can also be added to their food. Although coccidian organisms are not contagious but care should be taken and good hygiene practices should be ensured while washing your pet.
