Shoulder

Front limbs are responsible for carrying 60% of body weight so shoulder health is of significant importance. Shoulders support the front half of the body by connecting the front limbs to the trunk. For this purpose, all the bones in the shoulder must be aligned. Misalignment of these bones due to developmental abnormalities such as osteochondritis dissecans causes inflammation and pain. This slowly leads to arthritis, if not taken care of. Stoic dogs may not show any sign of pain while others may rise slowly indicating the pain in the shoulders. Maintaining a healthy body weight ensures bone health. In case of inflammation, your vet will recommend anti-inflammatory drugs, food supplements, and physical therapy or surgery depending on the severity of the condition.
