The Maltese are very active and intelligent dogs with lovely temperaments. Even with their small size, Maltese are active and high-energy dogs.

History

The Maltese is an old dog breed, one of the tiny “bichon” dogs discovered around the Mediterranean. In the mid of the nineteenth century, the Maltese was firmly established as a family dog in the UK and was the 1st breed to be shown at dog shows in the UK.

Physical Appearance

Maltese dogs have lovely floppy ears, a small body with sloping shoulders, along a tufted tail that waves over the back.

Care and Grooming

Maltese require regular maintenance. Brushing 2-3 times weekly is the best, with baths every 1-2 weeks. Never brush dry coat; gently mist with a moisturizing spray before brushing if the Maltese are kept in a short cut.
