The Havanese is an ancient dog breed from the bichon family. Initially, Tenerife dogs originated in Cuba with Spanish noblemen and farmers in the early 1500s. With Castro’s trend, some Cubans who fled to the USA took their Havanese with them. These dogs became the foundation stock for the Havanese nowadays.
