West Highland terrier

It’s a medium-sized terrier, though with long legs compared to other Scottish breeds of Terriers.

History

The West Highland Terrier originated from Scotland, and it was helpful for hunting badger, otter, fox, and killing vermin like rodents. Based on breed lore, the Westie’s white color comes from a tragic nineteenth-century incident while Colonel Malcolm of Poltalloch was hunting fox.

Physical Appearance

Usually, Westies have deep-set, bright, almond-shaped eyes dark in color. The ears are sharp and erect.
