Soft-coated wheaten terrier

A soft-coated wheaten terrier is an all-purpose farm dog breed whose responsibilities included watching, herding, and guarding animals and vermin killing and hunting.

History

Soft-coated wheaten terrier dog breed was created from the terriers kept as farm-dogs in Ireland in Europe. It had been identified by the Irish Kennel Club (IKC) in 1937 and sent to the USA in the nineteen forties. The American Kennel Club recognized the dog breed to the regular classes in 1973.

Physical Appearance

The Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier’s smooth single coat helps it stand out from the terrier family. The thick coat covers the whole body in gentle waves, with a fall of hair on the eyes.

Care and Grooming

Use finishing spray during brushing or combing. Brush the skin once a week for adult and puppy coats — bath your dog routinely.
