History

The Dalmatian’s genealogy is not known. The spotted pet dogs usually traveled with the nomadic bands of Gypsies, also known as Romanies, and it is uncertain where they might have initially appeared. The Dalmatian breed got its name during its stay in Dalmatia, a state on the western shore of the Adriatic Sea, the place that’s now called Croatia.
