CHOW CHOW ROUGH

Chow Chow rough is a bear-like giant, self-staining, and brilliant breed. Chow Chow rough usually doesn’t enjoy cuddles. Sometimes they distant their selves but are good with their family.

History

Chow Chow Rough is one of the ancient dog breeds. Chow Chow rough are believed to have emerged from Northern china and Magnolia. This breed has been seen guarding the temples. In 1890, in a Westminster kennel club show, Chow Chow gained third place in Miscellaneous Class. Chow Chow rough was acknowledged by American Kennel Club in 1903, and Yen how was first reported Chow Chow rough in American kennel club.

Physical Appearance

Chow Chow Rough has a bodyweight of 40 to 70 pounds approximately and has a height of 17 to 20 inches. Chow Chow rough has a substantial double coat seen in different colors like blue, red, black, cream, and fawn.  

Temperament

Chow Chow Rough is self-contained, brilliant, and a faithful breed. Chow Chow Rough are generous with their owners. They are usually not amicable with strangers and other breeds. But if they are adequately trained in their early life, they will develop social skills.

Average lifetime

Chow Chow rough can live up to 10 to 15 years. This breed can be vulnerable to different diseases. So, dog owners should vaccinate their dogs to save them from fatal illnesses.

Susceptible to diseases

Chow Chow Roughs usually have good health and are physically fit, but they can be vulnerable to different diseases.  Here some diseases are given below which can affect them.

Eye diseases

Several eye problems have been seen in Chow Chow rough, such as cataracts, glaucoma, dry eye problem, entropion. Entropion is an inherited disease in Chow Chow rough. They are more at risk for this disease than other dog breeds. In this disease, the eyeball of Chow Chow gets damaged due to the inward rolling of the eyelid. Eye surgery is performed to treat this problem.

Canine hip dysplasia

Canine hip dysplasia is an inherited problem in Chow Chow rough. In this problem, the hip joint is formed strangely, leading to osteoarthritis. This disease is primarily seen in large-sized dogs.

Dental Problems

Dental diseases can affect your Chow Chow Rough. Dog owners must brush their dogs’ teeth every day, preventing plaque and other dental problems.

Obesity

Obesity is a crucial problem in Chow Chow rough. Dog owners should provide a balanced diet and adequate exercise to avoid obesity, leading to very lethal diseases like digestive and heart diseases.

Care and grooming

• Dog owners should plan 15 to 20 minutes of exercise daily for Chow Chow rough as they can get obese quickly.
• Chow Chow rough are prone to dental problems. So, dog owners must brush their dog’s teeth twice or thrice a week to avoid any plaque deposits.
• Chow Chow rough doesn’t like open-air spaces and can live happily in the quarters. They are susceptible to heat stress, so avoid taking them outside during the hot season.
