Alaskan Malamute

The Alaskan Malamute is a large dog breed initially bred for its endurance and strength to carry heavy freight as a sled hound and dog.

History

Alaskan Malamutes had been bred by the nomadic Inuit-tribe, Mahlemut, of the Kotzebue Sound of north Canada. These breeds were initially used to fight polar bears, hunt seals, haul heavier loads full of food or camping items at lower speeds over great distances.

The Alaskan Malamute is a wolf-like breed in looks; it is a large, imposing dog breed with typical Spitz features.
