Heart

Dogs have a heart that is four-chambered and consists of a complex array of a synchronized electrical circuit that makes it beat. It is the center of the circulatory system and pumps blood throughout the body. This system also delivers oxygen and other nutrients to the tissues in the body and removes carbon dioxide and other waste. Several abnormalities can occur in the circulatory system which involve:

  1. Abnormality in blood flow

This occurs due to congenital defects as in valve degeneration

  1. Cardiomyopathies or abnormality in heart muscle function
  2. Disruption in electrical signals of heart muscles which causes uncoordinated contraction

of heart.

Symptoms like coughing, exercise intolerance, weakness, and collapse or change in the breathing patterns is an indication that your dog might be having any of the above conditions.
